my 1987 mazda rx7 runs but it runs rough like its struggling i changed the fuel filter. could it ne i have to small of a battery or could it but a bad alternator?

There are a few more inexpensive things you can try. Check air filter and clean throttle body add fuel injector cleaner to gas tank.

If after doing what I suggested does not work have the Throttle Position Sensor checked.
