1986 ford f150 5.0l lariat

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my ford when it suddenly died at a
stop on a hill. Heard a strange noise(grinding like)
under me. No start after. I replaced fuel pressure
regulator. Was shooting gas into vaccum line.
Have fuel pressure, spark, injector pulse, checked
timing with the distributer, was good. New coil,
new chip on distributer, plugs and wires. I smell
gas when i crank it. Seems to be flooding. Any
ideas?

If you hear a grinding noise when you try to start the car you have serious engine problems. Time for a professional diagnosis.

Why did you replace coils, chip and all that if everything checked out good. All you need is spark, compression and fuel at the right time and engine able to exhaust, Check those 5 items to see which one is missing, It sounds like you might have jumped timing. Turn the engine to TDC with #1 piston up, remove #1 plug loosen your distributor and slightly rotate back and forth and see if you get spark every time the rotor point to #1 sparkplug
