Battery draining

Hey guys, I took my truck to pepboys and
they fixed the cables running to the
alternator (apparently they were wired
incorrectly) for a couple weeks my truck
worked perfect. All of a sudden as I'm
putting my truck in reverse it dies. So I try
to jump start it. And it immediately tries to
fire up when the keys aren't even in the
ignition. I changed the relay for the starter
and it still happens. What should I do for
that and also for the draining battery?

Check your sylonoid? Also double check their wiring. Something may have come loose or shorted out
Check voltage at the small wire on the solenoid when this happens, if there's voltage when key is off, check it at ignition switch with wire disconnected, if there's voltage at the switch with key iff, replace switch. If no voltage at switch but voltage on solenoid wire, there's a short on that wire, trace and replace wire
If your vehicle tries to start (turn over) without the key in it and in the off position, there is definitely a short somewhere. Since the problem in intermittent it will be difficult to locate. You will probably have to visually check each wire within the starting ignition circuit for damage to locate the fault.

A bad or misadjusted neutral safety switch. might kill the engine when shifting into reverse.
