89 f150 will not crank

Asked by Kenny Jul 13, 2015 at 10:23 PM about the 1989 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am not great with cars but I am
learning as I go, I have an 89 XLT V8
5.0L f150 that will not crank, I have
replaced the starter, the ignition
switch, starter relay, and I have a
fresh battery. When I turn the key
nothing happens, but I checked the
voltage on the s-wire (wire coming
from the ignition switch to the starter
relay) and it reads only 6 volts
instead of the 12 it should. Does
anyone have any insight on why this
might happen? Any help is greatly
appreciated!

Sounds, like the iginition switch is bad,if you have replaced starter and battery is good.

I have replaced that also. Is there a way to test it to make sure I installed it correctly or to make sure that it is good
