Smog delete-timing issues

Asked by Dantheman1725 Jun 05, 2020 at 11:13 PM about the 1989 Ford F-150 S Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've deleted the cats and therefore deleted smog.
Now I am having issues with the timing once
engine is warmed up. I have fixed all vacuum
issues. Timing seems to be jumping all over the
place. Is this an issue thst the computer is having
with any remaining sensors and or do I also need
to delete any smog sensors as well. Truck seems
to lurch while driving at low rpms- hence timing
fluctuations.

1 Answer

Timing problems like this may be a worn out distributor bushing or a stretched timing chain.
