ford 300-6 will crank run awhil then shut off. waint until it cools and then it will stat but same thing again, shuts off

1989 F-150 300-6, will crank, run about 15 minutes the roughly shuts off. I wait till it cools off, then it will crank again but the same thing happens, shuts off after it runs awhile!!! What could be wrong and thanks to all, Fletch

The IG mod on the side of the dist sounds bad replace that first before u go digging inside the dist for the p/u coil. Word of advice go to ur local auto parts store and by the tool to get the bolts for the IG mod normal sockets won't work save urself the headache get the tool made to do the job

It could also very well be a weak coil or a cracked dist cap or bad rotor
