1989 F150 Clutch not working

Asked by Maxchanic May 11, 2016 at 06:48 PM about the 1989 Ford F-150 S Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 1989 Ford F150 6 cylinder, 4wd, 5 speed manual transmission that had been sitting for a year. After fixing a couple things on it (Clutch interlock switch, headlight dimmer switch) I started it up and backed it up a few feet, then tried going forward, but clutch wouldn't engage. Now it won't go anywhere, backward or forward. After determining that the clutch master cylinder was full of fluid, I pulled the rubber inspection plug out of the bell housing and found it packed FULL of mouse nesting material .I vacuumed and blew it out as well as I could, but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Darn! I didn't want to hear that. I could smell the urine when I blew it out, so it's probably pretty pitted. Guess there's not much to do but tear it apart and have a look see. Thanks for the input.
