Ford F250, brand new battery, new, tight cable posts. Electricity throughout truck works great. Turn on key, lights on dash come on, but that's it. No clicking, no starter. Nothing. 460, automatic

The solenoid (switch) is located under hood on fender wall passenger side. This switch sends battery volts to the starter.when it works making the click when starting. Before checking its cables remove the black battery cable first ! This solenoid should be tight against against the fender wall also. Watch for rust just in case. After this connect battery cable and with truck in park or clutch pushed down . Try to start. If does not start then volts is not getting to the solenoid or solenoid is bad . It is not an expensive part. Allways disconnect the battery before working with electric it prevents damaging circuits...
Thank you. So, if I follow these instructions, all I'm really doing is checking the wires that connect to the solenoid to make sure they are all securely connected? If they are, and the battery cables are also securely connected, when I try to start it and the solenoid remains silent, it's most likely that the solenoid is bad. Correct?

Y E S The big cables cannot fit in the steering column so little key switch wires tell solenoid switch to connect battery cables to that big starter.
