1988 Ford f250 351. starter keeps trying to turn my engine over. even with the key in my hand

A few days ago my truck burnt out the battery cables. replaced. today it was
trying to crank over with out turning on my ignition. the only way to stop it was
pulling the pos battery cable off. anyone want to shed some light?

check the wiring at the starter , sounds like the solenoid wire is making contact with the = cable

Solenoid could be stuck, wiring could be problem and ignition switch could be bad. Most likely cause is a cheap aftermarket solenoid that has welded it's contacts together inside.
