May I ask why you would take the battery cable off a running vehicle? Is there another issue that you are trying to figure out by doing this?

Ok. That not a good way to test the alternator. The sensors need the battery hooked up to function properly. Use multi meter. Your alternator should be putting out 14.5 volts.

When you take the battery cable off it is killing the power to the PCM which eventually shuts down everything electrical. This is normal.

Yes check with a vot/ohm meter or have it checked at a parts store like advance.

If you don't have a meter the your local auto parts store(auto zone) will check it with a meter for you.
