89 Ford Ranger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Truck has no power, the battery is fully charged. When I put the key into
the ignition none of the gauges come on and it doesn't turn over like it
should, its like no power is getting in the truck. I have a CB connected to
the battery and there's power coming from the battery. The lights don't
work either. I went up to autozone for a new silinoid thinking that could be
the problem. I sparked the silinoid with a tool and it cranked up and then
died when I took it off. What do you think the problem is?

Check the Battery Terminal Wires to Starter & Ground to Frame/Block to Frame, Look for corrosion, Peel some of the terminal insulation back to see if they have corroded, frayed wires, Loose Connections, burned wires & wiring, Fuselinks are cheap insurance. If they look questionable replace them.

Checked all the fuses, all of them are good.. battery terminals are good. Still not making any sound when the key is turned. Not sure what's going on

Follow the ignition swtch wires and see if there is voltage to key switch and if so check for voltage leaving the switch when key is turned to start.

After nothing working still, I'm wondering if its the ignition switch. Because none of the gauges come on when the key is turned. Any ideas if you think this could be it?
