Sounds like the starter solenoid is engaging the starter drive into the flywheel, but the starter is not turning the engine over. So either a bad starter, or weak battery.
New starter solenoid the starter is engaging but the motor dose not turn over

You need to replace the starter not just the starter solenoid the starter drive is the problem.
It's a new starter and solenoid combo and it works we tested it with jumper cables but when installed it hits the flywheel but nothing happens
Are you sure the engine is not locked up? And what shape is the battery? Have you gone over all the cable connections....
The motor is not locked up wires are good starter good starter is not turning the motor over and it's a new starter
I'd find somewhere to have it load tested. It is possible something is wrong with it, as long as the battery is good, and you have good connections.
The flywheel is snaped off looked at it this morning and I can turn the flywheel with a finger so not turning the crank shaft . l do appreciate the help with trying to figure out my problem
This does happen, not that it is uncommon. Glad you found the problem. Have a good 4th...
I found out that Chevy makes 2 starters. There's a 156 tooth count on the bendix n one with a 168 count so of ur hearing a metal grinding sound u probably got the wrong tooth count one so ur truck won't start. I went thru 2 starters n got one of them rebuilt until I found this out. Try NAPA they had both in stock for me n after I changed it to the right one no more problems.
