No compression or a little bit of compression and why would you mention the timing belt? It take 2 revolutions of the timing belt pulley (720 degrees) to complete a cycle so the belt may be 360 degrees off

I had the same problem in Feb.2017. I replaced rings,bearings head gasket. It turned out to be a intake gasket.

i have 1992 geo some days it starts right up others days no start .i pulled spark plugs they where wet with gas cleaned they up she started right up but still starts some times some times not it useing a lot of gas. and a low sound kinda like a vaccum leak i hear now .
