Car won't start

Asked by Gypsylinz Jan 15, 2016 at 05:57 AM about the 1995 Geo Prizm 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 Geo Prizm and just got a new
battery for it. It wouldn't start last week and
my dad checked it out and said it was wet
and beds a tune up but then we got it to
start. Then tonight after work it wouldn't
start again. Clicks and the dash lights work.
One person said it could be my starter but
then another says it sounds like it's the
battery. I plan on buying the stuff to tune it
up tomorrow but how can I tell if it's my
starter or my battery? He even tried to jump
it but it didn't help. I also live about five
minutes from work and haven't done
anything all week but go back and forth
between there and home, so not sure if it's
not getting enough charge.

If it did not start, (turn over) with a jump, the tune-up would not resolve this problem. Could be a few things, like yes, the starter. or a starter relay, or a bad wire connection. Clicking is the starter or starter solenoid. I would have the starter checked.
