1988 pontiac sunbird will sputter out and eventually will stall after a 30 minute trip. Check gauges light is on. Sometimes it won't start unless you let it rest about 30 minutes. HELP

Clearly the system ground is "iffy"...follow the black battery cable to where it attaches to the fender/frame...undo the bolt and wirebrush this connection till shiny...the lug too..put 'em back together....and ta-da car normal again~

get a NEW battery if found to be older than five....bump-off's on the top of the battery will indicate the month and year of it's first charge~

...if you do not...not only will the system suffer from "brown" power....ECU's tend to throw up a CHECK ENGINE light when they get confused...the starter does not have the full amperage to give a reliable start...and the alternator will get coooooked trying to charge a battery that stopped accepting a charge~
