1994 Prizm runs hot at high speeds

Asked by Scott46550 Apr 07, 2011 at 07:14 PM about the 1994 Geo Prizm 4 Dr LSi Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No leaks. At high speeds it runs hot and blows the coolant to the overflow reservoir. Top hose hot and lower hose cool. Heater blows hot air and the fans work fine. Changed thermostat twice. No water or coolant in oil. I was wondering if it is a clogged radiator?

Could thermostat be in backwards? Spring side toward engine, point toward radiator. Radiator not common, but you can take both hoses off and check flow w/ garden hose. Some guys miss the obvious, belt is off waterpump.,
