2003 Ford Taurus traction control light and slow acceleration

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Ford Taurus and lately the traction control light has been going on and off
at random times. When the car is idling it kind of jumps like it's trying to go or trying to
switch gears. Now today when I drove it it wouldn't speed up. It took forever to get up to
35mph and seemed like it would go any faster than that. What could be wrong?

Cars have this part called a "speed sensor ", that works in concert with the transmission. Or, could be your transmission is starting to fail, Ford Taurus cars are notorious for this.
Agree, with Mark1952,if you have a engine light on go have it scanned for code to let you know what is wrong,if engine light is not on,could be issue with tranny as mark said.
I've had 4 taurus's and it's never been the trans to fail me but the check engine light was on but I just drove it again and it was fine
If this is happening randomly, check the abs/speed sensor as Mark said.
