1988 pontiac trans am headlight motor wont work

Asked by Mesopotamian96 May 05, 2018 at 02:00 PM about the 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey, I have a 1988 pontiac trans am GTA and my
left headlight motor wont work. I checked the cable
and it seems like it doesnt get any power at all. I'm
a rookie when it comes to cars but I assumed it
was a problem with the fuse so I replaced all of
them but it still doesn't work. Any idea what might
be the cause of the problem?

Most likely it's getting power to the motor that flips up the headlight but usually what happens with these Firebirds is one or two things happen the motor burns out or the little plastic gear that whines the headlight up and down is burned out it also will lose teeth off the gear so you have to either replace the motor or the gear usually or unless you have an electrical problem loose wire or something. Check on eBay cuz they sell metal gear kits for your exact problem if it is a gear.
