car wont start

Asked by outofthefire23 Jul 16, 2018 at 03:55 PM about the 2003 Ford Taurus SES

Question type: General

so my car has been running fine when i bought not to long ago then last
week the car started in the morning with no problem then later in the day i
went to leave and it wouldn't start so i opened the hood and saw that the
battery connectors on the post had corrosion onit so i cleaned it off then the
car started up fine and was doing fine until today it didnt want to start up
again the battery sticker is dated back to 1/2014 the lights dont seem dim
could the battery be the problem or possibly a starter issue when i turn the
key all i get is a click but no crank

I would bet that the four year old battery is the problem. Have it tested and replaced if necessary. Not sure if I would drive over. If it happens to be the starter, you may get stranded. Starters ready to fail can be brought back to life one more time by thumping it with a block of wood.
