1993 2 wheel drive 5 speed geo tracker , can it be flat towed ?

Your owners manual will tell you for sure, but I do believe it can be towed (I assume you mean for a long distance) with four wheels on ground. The reason I say that is I have seen many Geo Trackers travel through my town behind motor-homes in the middle of the Nevada desert, and nobody seems to have any trouble. This information is from no other source than simple observation... and if you get from wherever you came from to the highway that goes through where I live, especially in summer I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to tow with a tow-bar and 4 wheels rolling. I have seen it just so many times. And remember I am referring specifically to the Tracker, not ALL towed cars.

I v called a lot of shops and NO it is not advisable to tow your two wheel drive tracker. That being said! I've also found that if you disconnect and drive it through the gears to get oil to the main transmission output bearing every 100 miles. You will be fine. We have a 1995 2wd Tracker and we tow it. We haven't had it for long but we have towed it well over 100 miles without a problem yet. I know we are pushing our luck. They sell a driveshaft disconnect. And that will completely disconnect the transmission and speedometer from adding miles. And no more problems from towing a 2WDTracker. They are expensive but so is a broken transmission.
We have a 1993 Tracker 2WD 5-speed. We bought it used from someone who had already installed the tow bar and lighting connections, and we have been flat-towing it for the past seven years. Disconnect the battery, put the transmission in neutral, turn the key to the 'run' position to unlock the steering column, release the parking brake, and away we go. Works like a charm.
