87 Chevy K-5 Blazer. No spark at plugs.

Asked by sknotts71 Jan 20, 2016 at 11:41 PM about the 1987 Chevrolet Blazer Silverado 2-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Installed new distributor, gas tank, fuel pump, plugs, wires and got it cranked.
Been sitting for 14 years. Rats chewed a good portion of the engine
compartment wires. Repaired all of this. Drove it from shop and it just quit. No
spark at the plugs. Can a bad ground cause this or has my ignition module
burnt out?

more a bad connection somewhere maybe, the module would be worth trying for the age of it

I had the module tested at the local parts house and it was good. While doing some more testing, I noticed that while turning the engine over, there was arching between the ignition coil body and the plate pack that surrounds the coil so before I go any further, I am going to change the coil and see what happens.
