2014 Ford Escape. Stalling

Asked by GuruB85ZR Jan 11, 2019 at 04:19 PM about the 2014 Ford Escape SE AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2014 will stall when you step on the gas it will sputter
and stall this can happen driving along and sometimes just
starting to leave my driveway after its warmed up. There's
no rhyme or reason. It will do it a couple of times in a
weeyand then not again for 3 months. No code comes up.
My mechanic says it could be a lot a things and could be
expensive to repair.

If no codes show up, then I would question if any previous repairs were made to the vehicle that has to involve unbolting different grounds from the body around the engine compartment and underneath the battery tray area. Intermittent problems can be hard to diagnose sometimes when other people work on these vehicles at different dealers or independent shops and screw up different things. This isn’t related, but I’ve seen independent shops put engines in these Escapes and they don’t transfer the dowel pins from the old motor to the new one and the flywheel can crack and/or break and transmission damage can occur.

Did you ever find out what was causing this issue? Mine is doing the same thing and they can’t figure it out tlrommel@aol.com
