2005 Subaru WRX

Question type: General

There's an 05 wrx with 140k miles and nothing
seems to be wrong with it but it needs a front
driver side cv axle. I was looking towards
trading my 07 2.5i for it. Don't know if it would
be worth getting because I don't know how to
fix the axle.

I am always wary of cars that are advertised that say "it just needs one thing". If that were true the owner would probably just fix it. If you can't drive the car before purchasing it you may end up with a pig.

Sigh...axles are way under $100, with labor to install 3/4-1/1/4 hrs, so this is a simple $200 job. I trust you realize that your NA 2.5i is MUCH torquier and satisfying around town than the smaller blown 2.0T? Given this old "slingshot" nature of Subie turbos you may be quite disappointed. As noted, going "backwards" with rust- prone Subies is not generally a good idea either. The $200 halfshaft job is NOT the major consideration in your decision here....
