Car won’t go into drive

I have a 2004 police interceptor won’t go into
drive but it goes into reverse transmission is good
no smell of burning oil transmission oil is bright red
it’s just making a whining sound when I put it into
drive but it won’t drive

The whine is a good indicator of your front transmission pump going or already bad.

sounds like wrong transmission was installed. just because it fitd dont mean its right for your car

did you get the problem fixed if so how did you go about it mine is doing the same thing now

I have a 2009 that goes in reverse but will not go in drive

I just paid 650$ to have it rebuilt but it's still doing the same thing

I have reverse just fine but when I put it in any other gear it doesn't do anything but when I do put it in drive it takes a second but then you can hear it go in drive and watch the rpm go down from where it went into gear and if I let it sit in drive for 5 mins a tap the gas it moves just a little bit
