2006 Crown Vic

Asked by whited63 Dec 18, 2016 at 05:31 AM about the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been reading and it seems
like the transmission on 2006-
2008 crown vic's. Are no good.
My son had same problem all of a
sudden with no indications the
transmission went bad.  Wouldn't
go into 2nd gear. All fluids good,
but not one check engine light or
anything.  But the headlights did
start malfunctioning and it
seemed if you hit turn signal
lights would turn back on. Then
next few days transmission was
slipping and gone. What's up with
this year of this car and 2 years
beyond.  Did Ford build a bad
transmission for these yrs. Cause
it's to coincidental that its
happening to several crown vic's
with these yrs. From what I am
reading.

Yep they had bad transmissions, but look at this way the car is 10 years old and it lasted this long, things dont last forever. In your case the tranny lasted 10 years so I would say you did good.....

Actually the 4R75W was a pretty good transmission in its day. Just like the others they need to be serviced from time to time.
