2014 Ford Fusion window problems
Asked by Fairlane_1466 Feb 23, 2017 at 11:33 AM about the 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
After an ice storm I tried to open dr side and pass side front windows. Neither
opened so I released the levers. Now neither work and I was wondering if the
motors are burned out or if it is just a fuse. The manual doesn't specify which
fuse controls the windows.

Thanks for getting back. I just went out to check for you answer and they worked. They had been frozen in place for 2 months, so I had assumed they were broken. I've had this happen on other cars but they would usually work once the heater is on for 20-30 minutes. Sorry for inconvenience and thanks for your assistance. As far as the fuses are concerned I've been looking at the fuse box in the engine compartment.

This concern is caused by the class actually getting stuck in the window track. It is very common on this car. The motors will not activate when it detects that much resistance. Applying window track lube usually helps
I have a 2015 Fusion with the same as problem. 20 degree night, next day it is 45 degrees and 3 of the 4 are still frozen. It has happened multiple times. Out of the blue they’ll start working. They budge a millimeter when lever is depressed, so not a power or motor issue. I’ll put some vinegar on my windows from now on
Ok, I apparently missed the answer. What is is and how do you fix it? all 4 of mine have been stuck since an ice storm. I was going to try to replace the fuze, but I can't even figure out 1) where the fuze box is and 2) once I find it, which fuze do I need to change? Help!
Interesting finding was about to look for the fuse and replace it, but then I thought that a car in this day and age gotta have some self protection and some easy reset. So I tried fiddling with the switch, click on hold all the way down then all the way up (activating the auto-roll), and after 3 times, it started working again. My problem BTW was frozen windows followed by me trying to roll it down, then the entire system went off. Nothing from the switch. Even temp in the 60s, still no response. So that fixed it.
Thank you so much Ziad!! Literally just worked for me a few minutes ago. Aftermath of a Nor’easter my windows have been stuck all week. Ahhh what a relief I thought I was going to have to get a new motor for the windows or something else expensive lol. Thanks again!
Ziad is the MAN !!!! sure enough, my dad had this same problem on his 2013 Fusion. Both front windows weren't working after a snow storm and a month after. after checking the fuses, and thinking the modules might need dealer reflashing, i key'd on and did the down up repeat, first on the driver side window main switch. you could hear it start to wake up after 3 or 4 repeats, a few more down/ups and it was working perfect. next same thing for the passenger side window from the main switch, sure enough it started to wake up after 3 or 4 and works perfect. you da man !!!
Ziad you're awesome! Worked like a charm!
Wayne Thanks Ziad for your help! Worked perfect at last
Both my rear windows on a 2015 Fusion stopped working a couple weeks ago. Just read this and used Ziad's fix and shazzam it worked. Had to repeat the up-hold/down-hold about 8 times then finally heard the clicking in the doors of something finally getting the message through then couple cycles and they started working again. You the man.
I’m glad that I found this thread! We had freezing rain and all four windows on my 2014 Fusion. The rear windows worked once it warmed-up outside. Neither window switch (driver or passenger) worked so looked through the owners manual at fuses. Each door had its own fuse so that didn’t make sense either. I searched and found this thread. It took a couple of tries the first time - finally working once I kept moving the switch up and down until the window opened (8 times driver and 6 passenger). It was strange that a solenoid or something did seem to wake-up after 3-4 iterations, making a small clicking sound. I’m glad that I didn’t waste $100+ bringing the car to the dealer. Very odd problem but fortunately a simple fix. Thanks everyone!
I literally just tried this and it worked ! After an ice storm and below zero wind chill, 3 out of four power windows stopped working. 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid Saved me $$$$$ Thank You!
Why can’t I see the answers from cargurus? From the other messages it looks like, repeatedly use the open close power window switch is the solution, but I’d like to be sure that’s it. Why are all the item under the question grayed out?

Easiest way is to put one hand on the inside of the window and one hand on the outside of the window, squeeze together and lift up while someone else lifts up the window button on that door. (make sure the child window lock is off, made this mistake once). This has worked 100% of the time, even when the up/down/up/down/up etc didn't. I have a 2014 Fusion and this happens at least 10 times a winter. I just read lubricating the felt track with silicone might help prevent this.
Seems to easy, but it really did work on my 2014 fusion.
I’ve never posted on this forum in my life, but thanks Ziad. You just saved me time and money. 2014 fusion, just worked like a charm. Thanks again.

Thank you Ziad. My window was stuck after Freezing weather. I put the car to Power On, Pushed down and held for 5 seconds, then pulled fully up for 5 seconds. I had to do this cycle 5 times, but the motor activated and now it works. My Ford Dealer ship told my it is a software setting so that if there is too much resistance against the window moving the software shuts the motor down, however they never told my how to fix it myself. Goes to show they are still interested in making a quick dollar.
please i need your help my car a 2014 ford fusion s 2.5 i was clean my seats with all 4 doors open when i wanted to close them again the passenger door does not want to close please tell me what to do thanks

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Same problem on my 2014 fusion. After checking the fuse and still nothing I was convinced it was as going to be a expensive fix. Worked like a charm. If I knew who you were I’d buy you a beer.
I've owned my 2013 Fusion for 6 years now, and I've only ever had an issue opening my windows when they were frozen like everyone else with power windows. Today was about 5°C for a high and the window mounding at the base was completely thawed on my driver's side which stopped opening just yesterday. To sum up after checking the 30A mini fuse for that door, and finding that it was fine, I fixed the issue by carefully prying open the master window switch assembly from the interior door panel, unplugging the plug, and plugging it back in. Astonishingly, my driver's side window rolled down and then back up throughout multiple tests without issue. All in all, I just had to unplug the plug on the master window switch, then plug it back it. Hopefully it stays fixed for a while now.

i cannot see Ziads answer can someone please repeat? my window is stuck down and i am worried about leaving it like that
Awesome! I've been trying to get my window to work for 3 days, checked fuses etc... tried this method and after 6 or 7 tried it started working, I was close to taking it to the dealer! Thanks
Thanks Ziad!! My driver's side window of my 2013 Ford Escape was stuck down in sub-zero temps last night. This afternoon, I pushed the switch down and held it for 5 seconds, and then when I pushed the switch "up", it went all the way up and closed! Earlier tries just pushing up and down (without holding for 5 seconds) did not work. THANK-YOU!! You saved me a trip to my mechanic!!

worked again!!! Not sure what the reset protocol exactly is but when the up- stay, down-stay didn't work after a couple of tries, I also pressed the lock button to the doors. Then the window started to roll up and down as I commanded it. Hallelujah! I was starting to steel myself for a big fat bill. Thank you so much for figuring this common problem out for all of us. Ford should post it on their website - finally some driver friendly design.

Ziad was EXACTLY right! I can’t believe there are no you tube video’s out there that show this fix. On my 2013, both front windows were completely dead after some brutal cold. I turned the key to “on”, and held the left window button down for 5 secs, then up for 5 secs, and repeated this at least 5 or 6 times, and suddenly the window woke up and started working!!!! Same thing for the right hand window. All good now, and thanks again Ziad, wherever you are!
