Question type: General

the dealer is replacing the engine under the warranty. I'm concerned about resale value
when i go to trade or sell this car in the near future.

That's a sticky thing. It really should have no impact, the dealer is making it right and will (should) be good as new, perform as well as any other. But the problem is it will show on a CarFax. People see that and react.. shy away..even the dealer who takes it in will have to disclose it to a buyer. The numbers will be the same as if it never happened in Blue Book but in the real world it will cause trouble.

PS Not to me it wouldn't matter. Fact is I see a car with an engine with 17k less then the odo..a good thing. But your average car buyer, not that I am any smarter, just does not like these things
