Oil change

I would ask the grease monkeys what they did to your car. Personally I would ignore the oil monitor and change the oil every 5,000 miles.

I'd go with the makers number. The computer takes in to account the type of driving and engine revs.Get the oil people to fix the monitor. They have been known to leave the old oil in and change the monitor.

The monitor does no monitor the oil condition. It calculates the percentage based on your driving.

In my 2014 Terrain, I noticed sometimes I drive a longer distance than others between oil change. I asked the dealer service rep about that. He said the engine reads the cleanliness or dirtiness of the oil and calculated the time it will take to be at the oil change mark. It sounds like the business did not drain all the oil, or didn't,t change the filter and left a quart of dirty old oil in the engine. I'd go back and either get your money back, or get a new o9l and filter change on their dime. I'd then contact the better business bureau and file a complaint, or the state department of consumer affairs. In theory, these drive in oil and lube business are good, fast and not as expensive as dealerships. Past experience has found a ton of abuses and consumer fraud. I was in a hurry once and had to change my oil quickly so went to the local lube and oil change place. I had just put in new air filters the week before and they brought me an old oily dirty one and told me I needed a new filter. I kinda lost it right there as they could not find my new filter I had just put in. It was not pretty, and the full business was empty when I was finished. I had the receipt in the car, and I was given the money to replace it with my expensive one. So pull the oil stick and see if the oil is clean or dirty. Good luck.

Yes, its is!! Unfortunately. My Midas mechanic searched on dealership websites and found where our 2013 Captiva is KNOWN for "high consumption". So I just make sure I add a couple quarts every couple months. Or...when the engine light comes on. Because my car no longer warns me like it used to. Started just over a year ago. Midas said it would cost me $3000 if they fixed it. But $10 every 2 months is more affordable for me.i mostly drive local. Not far. you just to keep an eye on it. And keep quarts in your trunk. It sucks!! But other than that no problems. Started last week at -25 degrees!!
