Just purchased a 2000 Corvette Coupe and found the cruise control

a low milage car is in excellent condition except for this issue.

try www.corvetteactioncenter.com.
It may be a sensor gone bad. Have the systems checked to see if the sensor needs replacement.
Interestingly, it started working after the battery was disconnected and reconnected for a different reason. Go figure.
Do you have the type of computer in the car that requires it to be synced with the battery if it was disconnected or replaced. My GMC does, and it takes but a few minutes to do it if you know the trick. I'd drive to my local dealership, and in a nice way ask it this is the reason it is acting up. My GMC/Buick service writer is very helpful in this way. (of course it is nice if you have bought 5 cars over the years and continue to go to the same service writer.
