Any way to override the MyKey feature without the Admin key?
I just bought a rebuilt 2014 ford focus, and it has the MyKey features on it
(won't let me go above 80 or listen to loud music). I was only given one key,
and the guy who sold me the car doesn't have the 'admin' key. What are my
options as far as getting this fixed?

I only buy rebuilt vehicles as personal cars. Saves a lot of money. My rebuilt Malibu has 230k miles and going strong. There's literally no good reason what so ever to not buy a rebuilt vehicle if you plan on keeping the car forever.
Just had my keys earsed and reprogrammed at batteries plus only cost 35.00 and it got rid of the my key restrictions
Batteries plus bulbs, $35.00, hopefully you have one near you.
Is the Batteries Plus like an auto zone or something of that sort?? I need these to be erased as well from my 2010 and I do not have the admin key!
Hi, Eddie, I called the Batteries Plus in VA/DC area. The same store, first time I called and asked, they said they can reprogram the MyKey to admin key for $50. However, the second time when i called they said, they can not do it. they can only duplicate mykey. So without admin key, they will not work. Could you let me know where or which store they are able to do it and for only $35? thanks
How much does a dealership charger to take it off.
Wtf I went up to the dealership and they're trying to charge me $450!?!?!? Hell nah
I went to dealership today and they want $290 for an admin key!! They can kiss my ass!!
I knew someone that helped me out getting rid of my fusion key feature for cheaper. Reach out to me if interested.

I am so desperate to get this mykey off of my 2015 ford fusion, I bought the car with only 1 key and i cannot afford to get another key made for the $365 price that all of the ford dealerships i have reached out to have given me. other locksmiths locally are still asking for $225. i just called batteries plus bulbs and they said they cannot do it. but i am not sure if i worded what i needed done correctly.@ROGELIO please tell me how to get my fusion key for cheaper!
Where are you located? We might be able to help you out for cheaper than $225.

i am hoping to only pay $35 and I might call another batteries and bulbs location in a neighboring city to see if they would do it.
I am located in the twin cities sorry. I really doubt battery plus deals with this. I had to buy an admin key for my 2012 fusion and the guy I knew charged me really cheap to make it and programmed it for me. Then I was able to go into my key settings and disactivate the mykwy feature.

I found a solution that isn’t as cheap as $35 but cheaper than $185 or $200+. I went to batteries plus, they cannot do anything unless you have a spare. Otherwise they charge close to dealership after parts and labor. I went to a local locksmith and was charged $35 for programming and $25 for a key. My total came out to be 90 and some change after they erased all keys and programmed 2 new keys. Cheaper solution if you can dish out close to 100 for total work.
Had same issue....same car actually rebuilt 2014 ford fusion. Order blank keyfob from Amazon, Like $10. Had it cut for $20 at the local locksmith then took to dealership to have them program for $50;) but just a friendly helpful tip....while they are programming have them retrieve the lock code for the door. If you have the keyless entry code all you have to do is run your hand down driver widow and the numbers appear. Oh an another cool feature that most dont knw is if you forget to roll up windows hit lock lock and hold down the button it will roll all 4 windows up. Same with unlock to roll them down;)
I have a 2011 ford fusion sport one key with remote n it has admin key setting on can not take it off any recommendations . Looking in phoenix or glendale in ARIZONA

I went to batteries plus but I didn't know if I needed a fob remote with that little key or the transponder key? They said the transponder key can be programmed for an extra $40 but I wasn't sure if that's what I needed. Can I program myself as I'm good at following instruction and can do it? Please tell me specifically what is $35
if you have a Car Keys Express near you or another business of the sort that comes out and cuts keys in person out of their van or truck at my dealership it’s about 1/3 the price of service department doing it, I refuse to have spare keys cut across the street at my own lot so I have Car Keys Express come out and do it for me
Call a mobile key Smith, cost me only $150 for a second key cut and programmed. There is absolutely no shortcut to this.
There is a way to bypass and erase your mykey with an app and bluetooth scan tool. I did so on my 2014 Lincoln MKZ 3.7. I made a video to outline the steps and the link for the app and bluetooth scan tool I used are in the description to the video. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/v0XrsYOXHB8 I despise "stealer"ships so the more people my way helps the more it saves them and screws the "stealer"ships! Good luck!
Gamergirl did you find out how to disable mikey? I'm from Louisiana also I need this off
Use forscan. Go into the settings and disable Ford mykey. That's what I did on my ford explorer 2012 that I bought with one key. All the mykey restrictions have come off (radio volume limited and speed limited plus other things). Only downside is I don't have admin key so can't program 2nd key fob since whoever owned the car before me has the admin key. Dealership where I live in NY want $350+ for a new key and programming but it's a bit much when I just bought the car 2 months ago.
Go to batteries plus. Buy a $40 key they charged me $25 to program it. So $65 and no more MyKey. They wipe out all other keys programmed to the car. I turned mine on by mistake and had to have it done.

What did you end up doing? Is there a cheaper way? I need to get mine taken care of as well
I have a 2013 Ford Focus and the MyKey restrictions just showed up one day after lending my car to a friend. I only have one key and don't know how it happened. I just went into Batteries + Bulbs and they said that Ford cars require two keys to do any reprogramming. They offered to order me a second key for 30$ and then at that point they should be able to reprogram my original key for 45$. For 75$ I'm doing it, we'll see if it works out.
I just bought a 2013 ford fusion that's been rebuilt and there's only one key and it has the mykey settings on it. It doesn't show an option to clear mykey so I'm going to take it to a dealership, unless I can find another way to fix it
Any located in Virginia (tidewater area) that can help me with getting the my key feature reseted with having to go to the dealership
Take it to your local LOCKSMITH, they did it for me for 100 dollars. Said they get this problem brought to them all the time
You can also unhook battery short the memory battery out and reprogram the mykey to not be restricted , they also make a blue tooth elm to reset like 14 dollars online and add app on phone, but kill system memory and stick key in and turn engine on and go to information and reprogram mykey to not be restricted
Bought a 2010 Escape with only one key. Mykey function was enabled. The escape does not have push button start. So Bought a blank 4 button Ford key front Ebay. Then had a locksmith cut the key but not program it. Took it to Ford and they programmed the key and disabled Mykey. Everything works great and was way cheaper than getting it from Ford.
I am in minneapolis minnesota can anyone help me get this mykey setting off of my 2016 ford fusion...I willing to pay
Hey guys try this :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0XrsYOXHB8
I AM IN NORTH JERSEY AND I NEED HELP REGARDING THIS FEATURE
All cars come with 2 keys when new and whoever you are buying from can't provide 2 keys, then walk away.
We need to find an attorney who will start a class action suit against Ford. What a money making scheme this whole "Mykey" thing is....
As crazy as it sounds, my “mykey” feature deactivated on it’s own. I just noticed it today, but my wife noticed in a couple of weeks ago; and never mentioned it to me. I know I stopped getting the alerts saying it was active (still didn’t click on my mind), but today I noticed I could turn the volume on the radio all the way up. Then I tested the speed restriction, and was able to hit 80 mph without the limiter or warning coming on. I dint have a second key, and the only thing that I’ve done recently was replace the battery (about a month ago). That’s the only thing I can think of that deactivated the setting. I came online to see if anybody else experienced mykey deactivating without a second key, and just wanted to share my experience. As stupid as it sounds, maybe disconnecting the battery for 30 mins to 1 hr might wipe it out.

@ RJ1246 So funny! I drive a 2015 Ford Explorer. My car wasn’t set up with “Mykey” and all of a sudden it’s activated!!! It blew my mind!! And unfortunately we are road tripping atm and having to deal with these restrictions!!! SMH. So once we get to our destination I will be unplugging the battery for a bit to hope it will reset back (fingers crossed)
Depends on where you live, the mykey restrictions is not new to local Locksmiths. I'm stationed in Fort Benning GA. I drove my 2013 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor for 3 years sucking up the Mykey volume, and mph restrictions until I paid it off and it's time to sell the vehicle. I won't wish that pain I went through on anyone. “Pop A Lock” locksmith fixed this in less than 15 minutes for $120. Ford dealership wanted $450 plus tax, no freaking way. I have 3 keys now and Mykey is gone and never coming back(well I hope it never comes back).
I called Pop O Lock which serves many states and they will come to my home, provide a new unprogrammed key which then will enable you to clear the other keys and program the new key if desired, for $89 https://www.popalock.com/residential-services/locksmithing/
the MyKey setting was missing on my Trucks setting display. I called a local locksmith and they came to me, cut me a new key and removed the MyKey resrtictions on my Ford F-150. $80 plus tax
Can you just swap out your factory radio with a aftermarket one to by pass mykey volume limit ?
