Change the starter. That happened to my 2004 Envoy as well. When it doesn't start you need to wait until the starter returns to TDC. Or you can gently tap it, the starter, with a screwdriver handle to speed up the movement. Sounds like the car // truck is telling you to change the starter. Hope this helps

It was running fine. Then I parked it for the weekend and came back on Monday and it will not start. It cranks and cranks and cranks but doesn't even fire. Doesn't even try to start.

have an 05 envoy 4.2. motor needs replaced. no one wants to even try it. what makes it so difficult that no one wants to do it? even the local salvage yard who has guys specifically to do engines?
