Speed Sensor
Asked by Amber Jun 24, 2017 at 09:40 PM about the 2014 Dodge Charger R/T RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2014 Charger and she is my baby. I made
the mistake of taking her to Wal-Mart for an oil
change and tire rotation. It had to be done before
we went out of town and they were a last resort.
Anyhow half way thru the trip, driving on the
interstate, my cruise control stop working and I got
two lights on my dashboard. When turning to the
left sharply there is a ticking coming from my gear
shifter. I think they messed up my speed sensor
while rotating my tires. Is this a problem anyone
has had? And is it easy to replace or fix? Like can I
do it myself? Help me please.

It is very possible that they did nothing to cause the issues. I would however check all the lug nuts to make sure they are tight as a loose lug nut could cause a ticking sound.
The traction control and ABS lights.

This happened to me randomly. You just need to get a new speed sensor from the dealer. They are fairly cheap. I doubt it was walmart though.

My daughter and I both own Chargers. The ABS and stability control lights came on both vehicles about one month apart. My Monthly Vehicle health report says we need to have the systems serviced. I am wondering if this is a flaw in the build of these models...
Am having the same issue with my charger.. now my brake light is stuck on as well as my tracktion control light and abs and low air sensors... idk whats going on
I have the stability control light on with now abs light could that be the sensor as well
We live on a gravel mountain road and it takes its wear on vehicles. Both my 2014 Dodge charger and 2015 Jeep Wrangler had the one month apart both had the ABS and traction control lights come on and both after being scanned showed which wheel sensor needed to be replaced which my local tire and repair shop did for me. With a sensor out it can effect driving especially at higher speeds. It is not an expensive job to get done at a tire/service shop and a lot less expensive than going to a dealer.

Driver side wheel speed sensor went out again, Took it to a dealership. NEVER again. They charged 98.00 for the part and 198.00 for labor. Took them 30 minutes. They charged 1 1/2 hours on labor. This is the second sensor that has gone out. I think it went out because of how you have to steer it into the track at the car wash,?. The first one went out after I ran over a hole in the road. Are the sensors that sensitive? I'm ready to sell my car.
2013 Charger R/T... Took my car to a do it yourself car wash and sprayed the engine a bit which I'd never done before. When I started the car got both abs and traction lights on, and a clicking noise when turning left. Took to a tire shop they used a scanner which says right rear speed sensor is out but also front driver side steering wheel control sensor is faulty. The tire shop can only fix the speed sensor so i'll find out later today if that gets the lights to go out. But yeah... what the heck? Is this two problems that happened at exactly the same time exactly after getting a little water in the engine compartment. Could one bad sensor cause another sensor to flag as faulty too?
