2014 Chevy Silverado 1500

Asked by Ulla Jul 27, 2019 at 12:36 AM about the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While backing into my drive way, the truck
completely shut off during the process
(happened 3x’s). The Theft deterrent system
came on, and then went away. Any ideas?

ALSO

I tried turning on the truck, but would not turn
on. I took it to Interstate battery 3 weeks ago,
and they said both the battery and alternator
were in great shape.

What causes a battery to be very hot (truck
has been resting for over an hour)?

How old is the battery? I don't like the sound of that getting hot. Are the battery cables, hot? The battery connections all good? Not just at the battery, the other ends also. No voltage drop on the connections? The charging system is in good shape? If the battery is very old, I'd replace it. Just my opinion and my opinions run hot and cold. I have good days and bad days. good luck

Thanks for the response, Oilyspill! The truck turned on, after resting overnight. Traveled for over an hour to run errands (manually turned on/off), which worked well with no issues. However, while turning on my AC; the higher I turned on the AC, the louder and motor engine sound began to increase form the AC system. I’m planning to take it in to the shop Monday. Battery is 5 years old. I checked the wires after driving earlier today, it they were hot too. But according to Interstate Battery, they said it was in great condition, as well as the alternator.
