Selling BMW Privately with a lien through BMW Financial Service

Asked by Billy Jun 14, 2019 at 02:00 AM about the 2014 BMW 3 Series 320i Sedan RWD

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I'm in the process of trying to sell my BMW 320i privately but currently have a lien on it through BMW Financial Services. The potential buyer is local and I want to make the process as easy as possible for both of us. My pay off and sale price are basically the same and the potential buyer has agreed to pay the amount that I had recently received as my total payoff amount. What do you recommend is the easiest way to go about handling this? Or has anyone have this experience specifically with BMW Financial Services? I was thinking the smartest and easiest way would be to go down to the BMW Dealership where I bought/financed the car and bring the buyer with. Would they be able take payment from the buyer and then mail him the title? Obviously I could draft a bill of sale prior but just curious how long the process could be to receive a title

Contact your lender and ask them what they recommend. How long it takes the new owner to get the title will depend on the processing time of the lender and your states DMV office back log.
