is faulty alternator detectable?

i took my car to dealership and asked them to check it front to back... about 2
weeks later i need a new alternator. could they not have known that if they ran
all the tests? i think its awd, it is a manual

Failures are difficult to predict, so don't be too hard on the dealer that checked out your car. Have the alternator checked by a different shop and see if it is indeed defective. If it is, just replace it.

If you can find a mechanic that can see the future you should tell me so I can go to them ;)
