2014 Ram 1500 Snow Chain/Cables

Asked by flightRN04 Dec 28, 2015 at 04:12 PM about the 2014 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2WD 2014 Ram 1500 with 275/60 20 tires.
I purchased some Peerless snow cables and after
installing the snow cables I checked the backside
of the tire and the inner cables come extremely
close to the brake lines. I thought I might have
installed them incorrectly since I am new to them
but after multiple attempts the inner cables are no
farther from the brake lines.  I don't want to drive
on them yet for two reasons.  I don't want the
cables to rub against the brake lines and I want to
be able to return the cables in the event the cables
won't work and I need to return them.  Does
anyone have any advice or suggestions on what I
can do to adjust the cables where they won't be
within millimeters or touching the brake lines?  Or
does anyone have any suggestions on snow
chains/cables that fit and are comfortably far
enough away from the brake lines?  Any help is
much appreciated!

Some cars have very little clearance. Make sure the cables you buy are rated for your clearance. Check your owners manual but you may have a 'S' rated vehicle which is the lowest amount of clearance.
