Gmc envoy

Asked by Jamey Jul 07, 2019 at 12:44 PM about the 2004 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It starts up, but won't go, in any gear. It
starts up great and runs great, but won't
go. What could make it do that?

It could be gear cable broke off of the shifter linkage of the transmission

The way to be sure is climb up underneath look for the linkage on a transmission that shift gears and see if that cable is connected

Ok. I will try that. I was going down the road and it just quit pulling.

Now if you was going down the road and it just stopped pulling that might be your transmission because if he's going down the road and just stop pulling and it was that cable it would not go back in the park when you shifted gears and it would not let it turn off and turn back on it would let it turn off but the key wouldn't go all the way off it would be like it was in drive and you turned it off

I can put it in park and get the key out. I figured as much. I guess i was hoping for better news than that. Thank you

First thing to check if it's four wheel drive check make sure that somebody didn't bump the four wheel drive button because I think that's an electronic transfer case make sure that it says that it's in 2h and see if that's right first double check and make sure that cable didn't fall off just in case if those things are in place I would say check the fluids first make sure your fluids are all good but other than that like I said it sounds like it's going to be either your transmission or transfer case has went out
