Why won't my 2004 Envoy switch into 4WD?

Everytime I go to switch my Envoy into 4WD the light on the switch blinks for about 20 seconds and then just switches back to 2WD and then my Service 4WD light comes up on my dash. It's in the middle of winter and I could really use my 4WD and I can't!!

When it is blinking it attempting to engage the 4WD and for whatever reason it does not engage, it gives up and goes bank to regular 2 WD and stops blinking. There is an excellent article at: http://gmtnation.com/f79/4wd-not-working-step-inside-107/ that is full of information that will help you
bbowser have you found a answer to your problem because my 2005 gmc sierra is having the same problem as you did I was wonder what you did if you fixed it

My 4 wheel drive won't click in and when i turn the switch to 4 wheel drive it doesn't come on and I replaced the fuse still no light
It does what the person said in the first page
