Have it towed to the dealer. Be sure that you make towing arrangements through Subaru.

Find the override button. Down low below the steering wheel near the drivers door. Press and hold it while starting the car.

I just had this same exact issue happen today. My wife and I ran out to grab a sandwich, car ran fine. She dropped me off at home, went to the local Publix for groceries and called me about 45 minutes later. Car would not start, all the instrument lights flickered quickly and the Outback would not even turn over. Tried to jump it off, starter would turn sluggishly but never would start. Pulled the battery, ran to the local WalMart, swapped the battery and first time it cranked. This ended up being a simple fix and about $100.00 for an Everstart 25-3 Battery, could have been a lot worse as I was afraid the ECM module had failed. Hope this helps someone with similar circumstances!

I tried all the tips, for 2011 Outback. Its the crank shiftsensor. Caused the exact symptoms. Intermitent not starting, poor running for weeks, random lights flashing. Crank sensor is vital part for proper operation.
