Dome lights and doors locking with no key in the ignition

Asked by Ramblerkat Nov 25, 2014 at 09:20 AM about the 2002 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Help please, I have a 2002 Ford Expedition.  The battery has been draining for a year or
more with no reason why, once we put a charger on it and start it it runs fine, except now,
a new thing.  With no key in the ignition, the inside dome light starts flashing on and off,
the other day I turned the light switch to different positions trying to get it to go out and
when I turned the headlights on the doors locked lol.

It sounds like you might have a short in one of the door switches that has finally let go. I would start with testing the switches and if they are good, then start checking the wiring and connectors.
