2014 Jetta ac fan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi !

Need some advice help. Just today while parked waiting
for WiFe and baby with ac on low level. I noticed my AC
turn to what seems to be a super high mode that is loud
and vibrates the car a bit as well. The ac inside seems to
be normal temperature, as soon as I click the AC button
off it turns off noise and fan. I’ve left it parked for a bit
cooled and on , same issue again. It’s a 1.8T engine.

Please let me know what this could be. New baby and
budget tight.

I have had the same issue with the same year model and engine size. Have you found an answer yet? I replaced the temp sending unit and the main fan and it still does it. I guess I may have to replace the other fan to see if it fixes the issue.

This just started in my car, same 2014 SEL. I am a EE but I know system instability when I see it. I ignore why is the system going to this resonant mode. Let's do some research and find out where the VW folks messed it up.

I am having the same issue. I noticed the loudness is coming from the fan blowing up these four rubber flaps which is creating the sound and the vibration from it flapping up and hitting. I am not sure what those pieces are called but that is what I have noticed. It’s noticiably loud outside of the car as well. Does anyone know what those are and should they be flapping like that?

Im having the same issue now on the 2014 1.8t and i noticed a crack in the fan itself which is causing the front end to vibrate.

I’m having these same issues one day. It was fine the next it is making this extended loud sound. I turn my air off and the sound goes away. What is the best solution for this ?

Exact same issue here with same model. It appears to be one of the two fans on the radiator. Looking down into the engine I think it is the one on the left. So then my question: 1) is it the fan (crack, imbalance, etc) or, 2) is it something in the system making the fan go into hyperspeed?

I have a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta and these past days when I turn the Airconditioning on its making noise. Any idea what this noise is about ?

It’s possible you have leaks in your system if your car has been worked on recently otherwise your compressor probably needs a switch

I replaced the whole assembly with an aftermarket one and it still has the very high speeds. Also, with the aftermarket assembly everytime you open a door or the trunk with the car off it makes the fans cycle on.

Push the 4 flaps inwards. It appears to be the correct way they are supposed to be seated from what I could tell looking at pictures of replacement fan shrouds online.

My 2014 Jetta gli just had this issue. I'm guessing due to heat or wear and tear its possible the rubber flaps lose some of their rigidity and break on through to the other side. Break break. I could be wrong though..
