For 2014 Nissan Altima, how to change the oil in a CVT transmission?

I'd have it changed by the dealership at the recommended interval. If you came here to find out how to change the oil in a CVT, you probably should leave this job to an expert.

Good point Bob. I tend to agree, even the instructions on that forum are for an at least moderately experienced mechanic. Instructions in text are no way like watching and learning first

Thank you : )" My comment was not intended to offend and I think you understand that. Wow, $590. to change the transmission fluid is crazy. Another reason I may never buy a new car with a CVT transmission. CVT transmissions in my opinion have not been quite perfected yet. There are lots of issues with them. I wish you the best of luck with it.

The fluid has to be pumped into a plug on the bottom of the transmission. Without the proper tools it would be extremely difficult. We charge $199 at the dealership and most of that cost is the fluid at about $20.00 per quart.

To do a drain and fill on a transmission on a 2013 nissan altima how much quarts will I need to put back in if anyone out there please let me know Thank you

I have 2014 Altima 2.5 for my 60km service, I asked about to change the CVT fluid. The nissan service advised me it can be change if it's necessary. They said CVT fluid is a lifetime oil. It could be change once you experience your Gearbox difficult in moving and need for maintenance.

NO,NO,NO ,NO . Whoever told you CVT fluid is lifetime should be resign his job immediately . I was at the dealer recently and my advisor told me 50 k should be good Interval for CVT fluid exchange ( not drain and fill ) . If you want your car at optimum I would recommend to do it before 55 -60 k .If you have crossed 50k already ,OW You better be ready for big repair bill . Again, CVT fluid isn't lifetime . Despites the generations of CVTs . I was there for service CVT software update for TCM. First they said you don't need update , but since I found out that they have update by calling Nissan Consumer affairs and found reference number of that campaign . It's pretty sad that Nissan did not recall all cars neither listed as recall for this update . Basically this update only for customer who are expericing issues with their cvt . I said I want to take precaution , then I made them to do it under warranty . It takes about 2- 3 hours .Now it runs like I just recently bought it without even changing fluir . I didn't have issue with my cvt but I had dealer to do it just extra peace of mind since all horror stories about cvts

My dealership has been pushing this at 50K but I understand that is to be done at 60K IF the car has been operating under a load - such as pulling a trailer. Otherwise it is 100K miles.

I will never recommend buying a Nissan. I purchased a 2013 Altima. New. Purchased a extended warranty. I put on alot of highway miles. I have had all recommended work completed at the dealership. I had a new transmission installed at 86,000 miles. I now have 142,000 and the transmission is already failing. Whines all the time. Beware of Nissan cvt transmissions.......I have had the cvt oil changed at 45,000 miles, new transmission at 86,000. Again changed at 105,000.

Go to walmart get a measuring cup and wherever you get out of it thats what you have to put back in

Good luck. If I don't have any to pour, I can't pour anything. I have a 2013 Nissan Altima sv. It shut off at stop sign, and red lights. Sometimes delay in drive gear. It got transmission leak. Had the leak pan fix. Add transmission fluid. Drive great for about 2 3 days. All sudden . Massive delay, and car whine on rpm. The car would not go with everything on. The car got 57k mile on it. Is it possible for new transmission? Please help.

Get your CVT fluid chained out every 30000 miles. Nissan is the only company that does this Honda recommencement that it at this interval . I doubt Honda transmissions are less efficient than Nissan. A Nissan service advisory told me they do this to make money on transmissions. $200 every 30000 miles

It’s pricy but when my mechanic was like your transmission oil is bad, to the point where the oil is black now. I’m just wondering how many quarts does it take for my Nissan Altima 2013 2.5??(transmission)

about 5 and half quarts of CVT fluid Nissan brand look under the hood it tell you waht CVT brand to put you can do it your self it is very easy save some money and the price of oil cheaper in amazon than the dealer good luck

All kinds of different answers I have a 2014 Nissan altama, this is what the maintenance book says to do, (see pics.) Shucks, i was only allowed to submit one photo, so i put the most important, the other shows the front page of the manual proving it's a 2014 nissan altima & the photo states "USE ONLY NISSAN CVT FLUID, USING ANY OTHER FLUID WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION"

Hello everyone. I have a 2016 Altima, it's at 136,000 miles and I've never done a transmission fluid flush service. My car runs smoothly and doesn't have a problem. I'm hoping it's not too late to get it serviced. I'm afraid that if I do the flush, my transmission will begin to start having problems. It's just a fear. I'm guessing I should do it ASAP??

@Cortez91 don’t do transmission flush. Check out this video for why https://youtu.be/SnM2Z-pwP6U You have really high millage with so young Altima. I don’t know if you need change transmission fluid. I have a 2014 Altima only have about 42200 miles. I think my car is about to need to change the transmission fluid.
