want to purchase a truck owner still owes money on it.  He lives in new jersey
and i live in pa.  how long does this type of transaction take?

Most auto loan lenders have an office somewhere. Maybe you can meet in the office to transfer the money and that way the lender will have your information to send you the title. Have the seller look into it.

Exactly, this way the lender gets the money and you get the title. Unless you know the seller don't trust them to pay off the vehicle with your money and send you the title! Hope that helps! Jim
