My mustang will not start change fuel pump & fuel filter then it started but soon as I step on the gas it shuts completely off why does it stop running when I give it gas

Im not sure what year your car is but it may have a fuel inertia shutoff switch. These sometimes trip and need to be reset. Mr Google should be able to tell you if your mustang has one and where it is located.
