My 2002 Envoy 4 wheel drive switch light, went out is there a fuse for it. How can I tell if my car is in 4 wheel drive

Asked by envoy2002 Jul 08, 2015 at 07:03 PM about the 2002 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The switch to change my 4wheel drive has a light that tells you which drive your'e in, and
that light is now out.  Does that mean I can't change to 4 wheel drive?

Should be able to change to four wheel drive, may just be a blowed bulb, lock it in and check it,if it dont lock in,then may be check the transfer case actuator, there is no fuse for this.

Open the fuse box under the hood there is a gray fuse number 8 start the car leave it on on park open the fuse box the car running pull out the small gray fuse for 5 seconds then put it back on you see the 4x4 switch light back on if it's not change the 4x4 switch and if it's still the same then last thing would be the transfer case motor change it you will be good to go good luck

Check your battery. My service 4wd light would come on and off intermittently for about 4 weeks. 1 week it ran fine and then the issue came back. I realized the only thing i did differently was leaving my bluetooth fm transmitter plugged in overnight. It stays lit pretty bright. I went to get my battery tested and sure enough it was bad. As soon as I fired it up after changing it i heard it switch from Auto to 2hi. Functionality has been great since.
