Car won't accelerate nor will it turn

Asked by Candace Jan 27, 2017 at 01:48 PM about the 2002 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has only done this twice. It seems to do it right
after I hit a speed bump. I can come to a stop, but when I
go to accelerate and/or turn, my car just won't. I'm not
able to turn my wheel at all. It locks up. I'm also not able
to go forward nor backwards. I tried to put it in park then
drive again, but nothing happens. The only way to make it
stop is to cut the car completely off, then start it again.

Whatever the cause you need to stop driving this car until the problem is fixed. This is a serious safety issue.

Does your tranny seem to slip any at all when it is moving ? If so your tranny might be going out on you and locking the wheel that way ! Or check your computer for going bad maybe !
