can I purchase a new wire harness For the 2002 GMC Sonoma?

Asked by jarnsheryl Oct 03, 2020 at 02:31 PM about the 2002 GMC Sonoma SLS Ext Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Needed to replace fuel pump. Ordered the exact one for the 4.3 L 2002
GMC Vortex engine.  The Vortex being a very common GMC engine in many
trucks, I felt confident, plus the customer service rep was sure that this was
"THE" part.  On arrival I noticed some portions of the brand new fuel pump
are angled differently than the original is.  Main issue here is the wire
harness housing are totally different than original. Any suggestions from
creatives or practical minded folks for that matter, are much appreciated.

I would not think the wiring harness will need to be replaced. What is the part number of the fuel pump housing. The correct GM one is MU1773. I saw the Crew Cab one might be different, this info was under one of the part numbers. Original OE design had a 2 x 2 connector, OE design upgraded to a 1 x 4 connector, A 1 x 4 splice kit included for vehicles with 2 x 2 connector, To be used only when failed fuel module cover contains a 3 pin black pressure sensor; Except RFI Filter Stamped GAV

If a design change has been made the new pump will come with the necessary pigtails to make the new pump work. Sounds like you have the wrong pump. Hope that helps! Jim
