They same way as the old ones come out. Sounds like you may need a mechanic to do this for you.
Also the friction material goes towards the brake rotor and the metal side of the brake pad faces outwards.
When installing new pads first compress the caliper in to bottom out, then install new pads only do one side at a time so you can see how they go on. when they are on step on the brake several times to seat the pads Then you can drive
If you didn't know that the calipers must be compressed to install new pads then you should not be working on your brakes.

Watch a video and fix your brakes? I don't want to be on the highway with someone that does that and has zero knowledge of the braking system.
Doing one side at a time and insuring it is correct is no big deal, If a person does not feel comfortable to do that they need to have a repair shop do it.
