Fuel smell can be difficult to locate. Do you smell it inside or when you get out. A visual inspection should be done, checking the fuel lines back to the tank. Could be as simple as a fuel line connection leaking. As for the parts interchangeability from 2005 to 2015, not likely.
My question is the vehicle smells like gas are the probable cause And do parts fit on a 2005 from a vehicle that is a 2015
