Look for a switch on or near the dome lights. It might be on the dash. It should say Off/On/Door. Move it to the Door position.

On the headliner, press the Door button near the lights above the rear view mirror, on the right side then the lights will come on when you open the door. I had the same issue until I figured it out.

Thanks Andrew you helped me solve this. My 2014 Sorento has black interior & Kia left the buttons with inset lettering without color- just black on black--very hard to make out what the buttons are for even in day light conditions!

I have a 2019 Kia Soul, bae model. I just saw the door& room button. The lights will now turn on when I open the door, however they don’t turn off once I close the doors, unless I actually lock the car. Any thoughts?

Thank you. Have brand new 2020 Telluride and nothing in manual about this issue. Have 2 buttons next to ceiling lights on each side. Lights now go on when I open door and go off when I shut the door.

There is a delay when the door is closed before they go off. A few minutes at most. There may be a way to adjust it - not sure.

Make sure the "door" button is in on position. It is located in cluster by rear view mirror. I tried for a week to solve it, and then came to this forum and got the answer!!!.. Thanx everyone. SE LA VIE!!!!

My Sorento is a 2021. On the overhead console, press the right side switch, an amber light will light up. Leave that on if you want the interior lights to come on when you open the door(s). I hope this helps you!!!
